Font Eldes Tapoca
Details
Tapoca is an organic display typeface shaped by the idea of matter transformed into form.
Its name echoes the universe of cassava and tapioca — ancestral knowledge of the Indigenous peoples of the Brazilian territory — not as a literal reference, but as a metaphor of surface: material that spreads, settles, and gains body. This logic guides the design of Tapoca's glyphs, defined by dense volumes, continuous curves, and a construction that moves away from rigid industrial standards.
Tapoca's design emerges from the intersection of Indigenous graphic traditions, Afro-diasporic visual heritage, and a conscious typographic process attentive to gesture, rhythm, and presence. Its letters are bold and expressive, conceived to occupy space and build identity.
Within the display field, Tapoca is broad and versatile. It works equally well in impactful titles and complete visual identity systems, adapting to different contexts without losing its character. Its strength lies in this expressive flexibility: a typeface that adjusts to each project while never becoming generic.
Beyond its formal qualities, Tapoca was developed with special attention to linguistic diversity. Its character set is extended and prepared for the transcription of Indigenous languages of Brazil, reinforcing typography as a cultural tool rather than a purely technical one.
Tapoca. Form, gesture, and surface.
